Potato Chips

It was raining and our tummy were making too much noises..so I went to the kitchen and saw some potatoes and had the idea of making chips for the kids and me..we love cheesy wedges from KFC but this one would do

This is an easy snack..i like russet burbank but only have this potato at home.

Ingredients: (for 1 adult and 2 small kids)
  • 2 potatoes
  • chillie powder
  • salt
  • butter
  • grated parmesan cheese (optional)

Clean and peel off the skin and sliced them like this..finger food

Sprinkle with fine salt and chillie powder and butter, mixed them well

Heat the pan and fry until brown

Sprinkle some parmesan cheese and dip with mayo and ketchup or chillie sauce
It just took me less than 30 minutes to prepare this for a quick snack..

Fresh Orange Juice

Kitchen activities could be fun especially when there is a heler who is adventurous...children could join us as long as all safety precautions are in mind..And making orange juice is a simple and fun activity for them..they can be taught of colours, shapes and it will stimulate their brain and motor skill...

Preparation : Oranges (1 orange = half Ikea cup), juicer..there are many types of oranges in the market and we have to asked the one for this purpose.

Cut the orange...

Squeezed it ..I bought this yellow thingy at a shop in Bangi after searching all over Putrajaya..even Carrefour and Parkson did not sell this juicer. She had fun helping me with this especially after watching the Pre School dvd on baking, setting up the table etc...

Pour the freshly squeezed juice to a glass, and add some ice cube..but for her, I just served it pure and fresh..without any sugar or ice cube

One happy girl enjoying her fresh orange juice...

What to eat in Trengganu

Trengganu or Terengganu is a nice and easy peasy place for people who loves shopping, eating (at the right place) and for those who loves island, beach and sand..scuba and snorkelling. There are many places to visit as such Muzium Losong, Taman Tamadun Islam, Masjid Kristal, Pasar Payang and many more...for those who would like to know more about life in Trengganu I recond you should read Awang Goneng's book - Growing up in Trengganu (Guit)..it is a great book from people who used to lived there..
Here are some of the food that I've tried before ..some might taste strange for your taste bud tho

Snack - keropok ikan with green mixture..you need to fry them

another keropok ikan with multi colour..nice

Satah- made of fish and grilled..enjoed this afternoon snack with chillie sauce

Cow's brain or otak lembu..it is a curry with cow's brain..for those who go for exotic food can try this menu..this was at Pasir Puteh..

There is one more staple food - keropok losong..it is also made of fish and mix with salt and flour..just simply boiled them or fry and it always come with its own sauce..Mostly the food here are not that expensive, especially their street vendor..

Safety Tips in the kitchen

Kitchen or 'dapur' be it wet kitchen or dry kitchen is not a hazard free zone, therefore it is important to ensure that this space is safe, clean and neat..be it with or without maid..ehemm..at least we try..

There are many accidents that could happen here from many activity or tools:

  1. kettle - hot water spill, short circuit -- ensure the cable is not facing or easy reach for childrens

  2. rice cooker - steam from the pot

  3. stove - hot stove and gas hose-leaking

  4. kitchen floor - wet and slippery -- always keep the floor dry

  5. knife - sharp tools should be placed at higher and safe area

  6. kitchen towel - flammable item -- far from the stove

  7. tissue -flammable item

  8. bottles - ketchup or spices : dangerous for small kids, possibilities of broken or chip off

  9. other kitchen utensils - some simply utensil might be a dangerous tools for kids

Always remember that kitchen is heaven for women but it can be a war zone as well..its always 'safety first'... and jangan bermain dengan api..
